Being Loan Signing Agent can be fast-paced and will require flexibility and patience.

To really be a highly successful Loan Signing Agent you must be reliable, honest, willing to learn, a good communicator, work well with others, enjoy dealing with people and be somewhat computer literate.

Life As A Notary public is a field of continuous education, empowering yourself with professional notary training, Learning the platform you’ve chosen to work with, or a new process is important. Staying updated on any changes in your state’s laws is highly suggested.

As a Loan Signing Agent, a notary journal is kept and is strongly recommended. Most states require or recommend this practice for the protection and safety of the notary, and if you are ever required to testify in court about a notarial act under question, it may prove vital.

The notary journal is proof that the notary acted according to the law and while performing the notarial act you followed proper procedures. The best defense is the notary journal against claims of wrongdoing.

Why I Became a Loan Signing Agent

I’ve done many odd jobs before life as a blogger, I use to care for psychiatrists’, I assured their offices were in tip-top shape and ready to take their next clients, I’ve walked dogs, babysitting, and I’ve done big catering parties for one of the top catering companies in NYC for over 6yrs.

In the past one main job, I had that was seasonal but consistent every year was Tax Preparers Assistant, which meant I collated taxes for clients.

Collating taxes meant I prepared the taxes for review with the tax client after their taxes were processed and completed by the Tax Specialist, this was a crucial step in the tax process. I would meet with the tax clients, know the different types of filing statuses, how to read forms, and where certain information was located to better assist the client and answer their questions.

I would direct the client on where to sign, answer any basic questions that I was allowed to answer, and/or would have the client speak with the tax specialist if there were more in-depth questions pertaining to the filing status, exemptions, itemized amounts, amount of refund or the fees.

It was then my job to place the forms in the proper envelopes, and mail the tax forms out to the Federal and to the State.

Tax preparers were considered the closers of taxes since we met with the clients at the end as does a Loan Signing Agent who do the same.

Although it was a seasonal job, it was fast-paced, and after doing this for about 7 years, I learned a lot about the tax world, and I enjoyed the independence since my day was done when the tax specialist completed their appointments.

As you can see these roles are very, very similar, and it is why I have become a Loan Signing Agent since it was already so familiar due to my past experience as a tax perparer.
